express food in 30 mins

Finally my long waited holiday is here again...it's national day in China and we get a week off..but as a communist country, fairness is very important..eventhough i get 5 days off, i need to work next weekend to compensate~~ which means 7 days of consecutive work days >_< anyway, i just took leave to make my holiday longer ^^
this time, i didnt bring a lot of things back..i found that there are not alot of things to buy here...i still remember the last time i brought some shanghainese tit-bits back and they werent liked, so i better save $...this time, i got my mum a machine made in CHina...九阳豆浆机 (multi-function soy bean machine)...it's like "i-phone" where every household must have one...now, my mum and jenn could enjoy a fresh, hot glass of soy bean milk in just 30 mins!! beside soy bean milk, it can make green & red bean soup, fruit juice, red dates with 5 types of rice, white fungus with red dates soup (taste kinda like bird nest) etc etc all in just 30 freaking MINS!!
this morning, i did a trial for my mum..i turn the yellow beans (without soaking) into 1 L of tasty soy bean milk...aaahhh, hot soy bean milk and the smell~~ don't u just love it? if you want some organic soy bean, drop by my place, one for 50 cents, cheap cheap
i made up my mind, i'm gonna get one when i get back to Shanghai...oh yeah, there were some little drama going on last night at the airport custom...i was unlucky enough to be asked by the custom to go through the x-ray and they found this machine and asked for duty. i told them it's used item and they insisted of taxing me...i pleaded and pleaded and explained and explained, finally, they let me go because i said they would make my mum very happy if they let me go, because this is her possession ;) aaahhh, it proves that malaysian still have kind heart :') i dono why they chose me but today, i found the reason. I went to a phone shop to get a sim card and the lady asked for my passport, but i gave her my driver's license instead...she said: "ah, i thought you are from China" (|||T_T)...is that good or bad?

Half way home

I'm in klia now waiting happily at the boarding gate. Eventhough I have to wait for 4 hrs in transit hall, I still feel sweet... Haha, I'm sure all of u know why.. If u have a happy heart and mind nothing bothers you... Well, before I went to the departure hall, I made sure I had my favorite for afternoon tea! You guessed it right, it is teh Tarik and toast from old town :) I'm so easy to predict :) in the mean time, I tried to use my time effectively by clearing today's email...in order to reduce after holiday stress and depression... And I also found this blogger app in apple store, which means I could update my blog more frequently...but out of china :) see u all very very soon Btw, I bumped into our plant general manager this morning at shanghai airport. Obviously both of us were shocked and what was even more coincidental was, i sat right behind them... Hahaha, lucky we were not doing anything we couldn't tell our mum >_<

TWINS

These are the typical questions Jenn and i always get:
  • how does it feel to have someone who looks like you?
  • Can you feel what Jenn / Jane feels? 你们的心灵相通吗?so 相通 that no need to talk, just talk with brain power and eye power?
  • Two of you have same personality?
Well, i did think of these questions before....sometimes, i wonder how it feels to not have a twin? if i had a choice, would i rather not have a twin? i remember when i was small, my parents always dressed us in same clothes and everywhere we walked, people would stared at us and asked if we are twins? DUH? apa then? it was a bit annoying at first because i hated the attention and really wanted to be an individual...so we always complained about having the same thing and having to do the same thing...but as we grew older, we kinda enjoy the attention....i remember after i left home to a strange country called HK, i was all by myself...honestly, i really missed jenn....as young kids, i never had to feel alone...we were in the same class from kindergarten t0 primary 6, had same friends, went to piano lessons together, played together, learned together, fought with each other, bullied people together etc.... i remember very clearly that once we were small, we liked to play in the huge drain outside our home...we liked catching little fishes in the drain...one day, jenn fell into the big drain and couldnt climb up..she was crying and i was crying too...in the end, i decided to jump into the drain to be with her...we hugged each other and cried....after that, we decided to work together and climb out from the drain...that was a sweet memory which has been in my mind forever :)
well...today, i thought of this question again....i'm glad to have a twin sister...even though we are far apart, it just feels like i have never left her before :) and i'm glad to say that i love all my siblings because we always help each other....well...having twin is like the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me and i have to thank mum and dad for that :) i wish i would have twin forever and ever and ever~~~

Pets love

all my friends know that i am a cat lover....actually, i like dogs too and i know fish too, and i like rabbits and i love pets...it's been a while since i last have pets...it's nice to have tiger at home..really love him but i don get to see him often..he is still cute in my mind :) well, after moving to HK and shanghai, the idea of having pets did cross my mind...but i love pets so much that i rather not let them suffer because i couldnt even take care of myself properly, let alone having pets...it's commitment and responsibility...so i rather put the idea in my mind :) it's good to use imagination sometimes...
well, i think god answered my prayer...a few weeks ago, i saw a pregnant cat mummy in my home estate...initially i thought it was someone's cat...then i saw the same cat again not long ago but then this time, she was with some kittens!! oh dear, they were so cute..i wanted to play with them but mummy cat seemed to worry and was ready to scratch me if i went closer...i saw them a few times playing in the bush a few times so i concluded that they must be stray cats...oh poor kitties...and my motherly love suddenly popped up and i wanted to take care of them..so i went to the convenient store near my home and bought curry fish balls and mixed them with my mushroom rice and fed them...they were happy~~ hopefully not too spicy for them....im gonna have my own pets unofficially~~~ the thing is, sometime i dont see them around...i had a cup of fish balls in my fridge for a few days the other time and didnt see them until thursday night...MEOWWW~~~ guess what, it has become naturally to meow when i see cats...i think my neighbours think im nuts... ^^

Jane can cook

after moving to shanghai, i try to cook as much as possible at home...i didnt have a chance to do that when i was in Hk because i travelled too much and somemore, the kitchen was a lot smaller...plus, HK has far too many yummilicious food that i didnt want to waste every minute or second trying all the good food :p after moving shanghai, and after hearing so many "black-hearted" stories about food in china, i wanted to live longer and avoid hospital so better make good investment before something happened...plus, my place is near two big supermarkets and the fact that i spend much more time in shanghai and have bigger kitchen, so i wanted to fully utilise.....
didnt really have the strength to cook during week nigh
ts...coz by the time i got home, it was quite late...well, i have a strategy of my own :) i try to cook a lot of food over the weekend and eat them during week days.....gosh, after cooking for quite sometime, i really ran out of ideas of what to make...first, i made bak kuk teh, second, i made stewed pork, then pork chop, then ginger chicken, then fried bee hoon etc etc...*sweat* and still thinking...how does mum do it? well, a few days ago, i came across an old rec
ipe book i bought long long time ago...the title was "lazy bone cooking recipe"...hey, that's referring to me..so i ran thru the book and picked the easiest in the book..guess what is it? tada~~~
Steamed mushroom and asparagus rice....all i did was, soaked the mushroom, cut into small pieces, cut the asparagus..all dumped into rice cooker and added soy sauce and tada...something healthy...i added in a fried egg to add colours to the brown looking dish...next time, i will add more colours to it bit by bit...it was delicious...i think i inherited 30% of mum's talent *blush*
Thanks to "lazy bone recipe book"~~

Surprise

i'm sure all of you like to be surprised (in a good way) every now and then...well, i'm only human and i love surprises....hehehe...lately, because of some promotion and special holidays, our offices give out coupons or free gifts...because i'm always away from my desk, there are many times when i walk into my office to find something lying on my table...one day it was two free movie tickets coupons, the next are shampoo, detergent and body gel, one time it was free mooncake voucher...on Monday morning, when i first arrived, the moment i opened my door, i saw something bright blinking...huh? a box of chocolate? on a Monday morning? who put it there? how did it get here? there were many question marks on my head...all i could think of was, is this another free gift from office? oh well, don k and never mind, as long as it is free gift and i like surprise, especially on a monday morning ;p after a few hours, a colleague sent a note and said he put a box of chocolate he bought from US and put on my desk...hahaha..mystery solved...the chocolate made me hungry now... :p

My sunday morning

well, yesterday, i mentioned i went to redeem my mooncake voucher at hagan daaz...actually i wouldnt want to go through all the trouble just to redeem something..imagine the queuing and the waiting and worse of all, the crowd!! let alone it's a gift voucher from our office...but my decision changed when a colleague told me that this voucher will be put in my payroll!! so, u know me lo~~ wasting money to go all the way there twice and all the way back, luckily, the place is not far not close from my home...but still too far too walk...i decided to go on sunday morning...so this morning, i woke up early, went out for a BIG breakfast..so full!! i love the fresh orange juice...so original..unlike the orange juice at thompson's corner..it's more like orange plus lots of water...haha...so full after that...so i decided to walk to the mall....

after walking for 2 mins, i changed my mind because it was already 945am and it would take me 50mins to walk there...i made a mental calculation in my head...should i pay CNY14 or should i waste 50mins? then my instinct told me to just take taxi..so i did...by the time i reached there, there were already many aunties and uncles waiting at the entrance...the mall was still closed...there were many people "talking" (sound more like arguing in shanghainese) to me, some where banging on the entrance to ask the security guards to open the door, some where smoking in the line which i despised! so i took my book out and read...more and more people came, two ladies appeared in front of me unnoticeably...oh well, not a day to argue....i waited for quite sometime and got my gift set...tada~~

my first McD in Shanghai

last night, i wanted to collect free hagan daaz icre cream mooncake from parkson....it was a cool night and quite windy too...i like ^^ it was a bit late when i arrived parkson and was dead hungry so i went around the mall and didnt find anything i like so i decided to have McD...while sitting there having my unhealthy meal, i thought to myself, hey, this is the first McD i had during the 8 mths in shanghai...bravo bravo....i remember i used to have McD for lunch everyday when i first arrived HK...i almost vomitted after few weeks...and i also remember there was one time in perth when i had McD everyday because i wanted to collect the snoopy figurines which changed everyday~~ ahaha..i was so naive then....anyway, it was a good dinner~~
i was going round and round search for the store and only realized the taxi driver dropped me at the old parkson store in the area...btw, i would have used the search function on my iphone to locate myself but my 3G was cut when the phone company restored my phone line...hhmmm....interesting, this only happened in China...my line was cut because i didnt pay bill, when the bill was paid, i got my receive calls function back but i couldnt make any call, so i told the phone company and they restored my make calls function and now i realized my 3G was gone....why couldnt it be perfect in one go? oh well, this is china and it was my fault in the first place for not paying bill, what could i say?
anyway, i used the traditional way and asked around so i finally, i got to hagaan daaz....only to find out the redemption was closed!!
