一日游 (a day off in hk)

it was long weekend this weekend...YAHOOOoo...i know all of you are feeling like this even weeks before the long weekend....i didnt really have anything planned for the long weekend...i was still feeling sick and initially i decided to stay at home and rest...but after some hard thinking, i decided to take ah fai's offer...to go cycling with friends....once i cycled in "long island" a year and a half ago...and i missed the feeling of wind blowing at your face, so i decided to challenged by sickness....it proved to be a wise and worthwhile decision :) thanks fai fai for making me see the other side of HK...the beautiful & natural side and the scary side that is...

we started our trip at "tai wai station" (outskirt of HK) and wanted to start our journey there, who knows, there were no bicycles left..looks like everyone came out to do the same thing...so we went to "shatin station" and looked for other vendors...there was one, luckily, but we had to QUEUE....yup, like how we waited for dim sum at restaurant..this is something new to me...i never thought cycling on holiday could be so popular....we waited for 45 mins before we chose our own bike...(didn't have much choice anyway), so i chose a simple bike with no special function..just pedal pedal pedal and a hard seat...but i did have a cute bell...fai fai's friends said my bike looked like the type of bike people used for delivering food (外卖单车)...i forgot to take a pic though....sayang la....anyway, it was great to cycle around, seeing the beautiful scenery...it took my breath away when i saw the water and the mountains after mountains, apartments after apartments and of coz bikers after bikers....haha...i was shocked by the amount of ppl cycling...i took some pics while i was cycling to share with my friends~~~

this is the view while i was cycling...this was only the beginning

As we went further, we began to see the crowd...OMG OMG, this was where we waited at the traffic lights...doesn't this look like we were participating in the cycling competition? everyone was eager to be the first...some ppl even waited at the wrong side of the road!!! amazing
it was so crowded that it made some area so hard to cycle...i had to watch out for the crowd and couldnt enjoy the view as much as i wanted to...some people rode too slow coz they looked like beginners, so i had to overtake a lot of them..i wish i had a rear mirror installed on my handle coz there were people coming out of nowhere behind ya..so before you overtake, must look behind you...Also, some people didnt know you were overtaking them, so they just suddenly overtaking ppl in front of them...i learned a few lesson..ALWAYS "HORN" them before you overtake!!! mayb it was the crowd that i saw a lot of injuries happening along the way...one of fai fai's friends fell down and hurt her chin, knees and later, she was hurt on her arm by another biker because the road was too narrow...and fai fai fell down when going downhill...i carelessly knocked on my knees a few times and now i have a lot of O-CHE (blue green) marks all over my legs :'( the scary thing was, we saw this gal being taken away by ambulance with a bandage on her cheek...the hearsay was she fell down and rubbed her cheek and the flesh fell out (><).i saw another little gal struggling with pain in her mum's arm coz she crashed her bike and was later taken away by ambulance...a few bikers along the way crashed their bike with minor injuries but the bike needs major overhaul!!! the whole tyre became other shapes other than round!!! a guy in front of me almost knocked on me while i was doing 60km/hr...geeezzzz, luckily my 外卖单车had really good brake or else i would be rocketeer... traffic jam at the junction...people stopping to go to the loo and buying ice creams and cold drinks...actually this scene reminds me of the scene in kuching...people stopped anywhere they want, whenever they want...amazing~~~~~~no road ethics man... during the trips, we stopped to enjoy the view...it was....magnificent~~~
and we found a weird creature on the way...isn't this beautiful? :) thanks fai fai for taking me....the whole bike ride took us 4 hours....the consequences? sore bum (i think my two apples are now O-CHE), muscle pain everywhere...my body feel like it's gonna break anytime soon...haha....excessive exercise i guess another note, i felt like i was doing a circus coz fai fai and friends said i could ride with one hand...i was on the phone a few times while riding...and i was taking out my phone while riding to take pics for you guys, and i looked behind and chit chatted while riding....people, please do not imitate me unless you are well trained :)...these are high risk actions.....the reasons i did this was because the road was too narrow for me to stop and i didnt want to delay other people for my own convenience :)
