“一厢情愿“?

I always have a doubt on the underlying meaning of some ppl's word...i'm not sure..mayb my intelligence level is not up to their standards or i just assume too much....let me seek your opinion... Scenario 1: One fine day, when you are deciding what to do on your free day, your friend calls you and tell you that she will (note that i use "will" instead of "is") look for you after she has done with her chores, which is roughly after lunch.... The question is: does this mean you have an appointment with her? Scenario 2: Then after lunch, she came with another friend saying that they are off to do some research for something (which apparently is important) and said she will look for you once the reseach is done. The 1st question is: Is this acceptable as a way of telling you that I have FFK (Fong Fei Kei) you but don't worry, I will look for you after my important research? Is this ok for you? The 2nd question is: Does that mean you have another appointment with her? The 3rd question is: Is it ok to get angry when in 1st scenario, you are FFK and in 2nd scenario, you are only told that she FFK'ed you by bringing someone to your place and that she FFK you again after that, saying that there is no appointment and you are free to do anything you want? Given the two scenarios, would you think you have an appointment and reject your other friends' invitation? THE REAL QUESTION IS: TO EXPECT OR NOT TO EXPECT? IS IT WRONG TO EXPECT?

fast solution

Kuching always has parking problem...either ppl park on the yellow line or double park? there are a lot of reasons why kch ppl park illegally....

  1. they are just lazy to walk, so they just park at any space they could find, be it yellow line or double park.... or they rather waste time and petrol to go round and round and round just to find a space in front of the places that they are going....something i don't understand
  2. some ppl might be in a rush to do something
  3. some ppl just couldn't find any space to park
  4. some ppl think it's just for a short while
  5. for various reasons (any other reasons that i haven't thought of)

well, i got a good idea when i was in NY china town...i found something interesting that could help solve problem in kch....*lightbulb* :) initially, i thought it's a car selling place....until i looked very closely....hey, it's parking lot and they are so unique...look at the pic below How interesting~~~this might be a business idea for someone who's looking for something to do in kch~~~yes, i'd like to charge a little bit of commission for the suggestion...thx (^^)y

飞机惊魂 (下)

I slept like a baby during my 5 hours flight to LA...until i got woken up by the sudden landing of the plane~~well, actually it wasnt sudden landing, juz tat no one announced tat the plane was gonna land and no pre-landing check!! the back of my seat was not up, window still down...wonder where the hell the stewardess were...FYI, i was half asleep for the last 5 mins before landing and was looking at LA on the plane..just tat i fell back to sleep after looking at the lights...they hypnotised me...so the plane was delayed and those with connecting flights had to rush (and i was one of them).... the thing i find annoying abt US...they don't give you good directions...when we were out of the plane, my colleagues and i were so lost coz we didnt know where to go...no sign, and no ppl!!! so we walked around the airport looking for an officer...finally after 10 mins of wandering around, we found someone..."Which way should we go if we are taking Cathay Pacific?" he said: "go out from the door and turn left." "Great, thx" so we did...it was dead end....where to turn? so we asked again...ooo, we have to go of the door and walked 15 mins to another terminal!!! at that terminal, still we couldnt find CX...why why why? it's terminal 4 as told..so we walked around and around....asked again, we have to walk further...gosh, are we a bunch of sua gu? finally, we saw CX planes...you couldnt imagine how happy we were...took half an hr to find the check-in counter..so we happily checked in....happy until when i hear this.
guy: "miss, could i have your change of itinerary slip?" me: "huh? i didnt change my itinerary." guy looked puzzled and checked again. guy: "miss, may i know if this is the updated itinerary?" me: "yeah, i just printed it out and checked in online" guy: "oh? but the system says ur booking is for tomorrow" US: "WHAT???" EYES SO WIDE THAT OUR EYEBALLS ALMOST FELL OUT me: "tat's impossible. let me see." GOSH...it's true...so, even when i checked with cathay pacific that im on cx883, it's still cx883 but for the next day???!!!! US: "Stupid nelson (our travel agent), we said to book us on the same day!!!" Me: "could you pls put me on this flight?" guy: "sorry, this flight is very full. u will have to wait until the next flight. but both flights are very full. the next flight going to HK is tomorrow afternoon. I will put you on standby for the next flight. come back at 1am (ie our 3am HK time) to check" me: "What? no seat? gosh...shit, i might have to stay in airport overnight???!!"
(this is how i felt, but i didnt show it)
so my colleagues left without me...the whole night, i was nervous..what if there is no seat, what if i have to stay in LA airport. i have no internet, no phone, the information counter is closed...worst come to worst, i will find a bench to sleep on...feeling depressed and lost...i waited and waited for the time..
tick tock tick tock..it felt like time was crawling by. i waited at the counter since 1245am..hoping that ppl didnt turn up (i know i was bad, but i was desperate)...but to my disappointment, more and more ppl turned up....feeling worried and scared....i waited in line...after dono how long, it was my turn. i asked the guy if there's any seat for me...he didnt answer me, just keying in info...and i asked again...he said, there's no more aisle seat. I said i don k as long as there's seat. after x mins, he said, oh, u are flying tmr....heart beat faster, no, im on standby, i want to leave on this plane, any seat? he kept quiet and continued to key in...finally he said, i checked u in a window seat...I WAS SO RELIEVED!!!!
eventhough my flight was again delayed for 1.5 hrs, i was stranded at the boarding area for another 15 mins, i didnt k anymore...i was just happy that i have a seat!!! Black Saturday? 1. Couldnt find direction 2. lost for 30 mins 3. empty happiness for hours 4. Almost stranded in LA airport 5. flight delay 6. waited in boarding area for 15 mins before i could board the plane luckily things turned out to be ok....and later on, my colleagues told me there were TWO seats in their flight...crap....i wanna kill the guy....but oh well, i forgive but i don forget... there...tat's my worst experience of US....

飞机惊魂 (part 1)

left US for HK on Friday, the 12th (which is Sat the 13th for HK time)...eventhough i left on Fri, i only arrived HK on Sun morning...crap, i just lost 24 hrs of my time because of flying time and time difference!!! it was a disaster for me for my return~~~i called it my black friday in US and Black sat in HK....why did i say it like tat? let me tell you my story (in indian accent~~ @@) I'm actually very tired...only arrived HK at 830am after a loOOoooong flight...i left US on Friday evening from Baltimore to LA....knowing how tight the security is in US, we arrived airport 3 hours earlier...four of us checked in together, but it took us 40 mins to check in!!!
  1. the lady won't stop chitchatting to us. that took us 5 mins!!!
  2. She couldnt find my connecting flight. Coz she said my flight No. on the system is different from my flight number on my itinerary. I said couldnt be, it should be cx883, not 881. So she asked me to call Cathay pacific to confirm...so, she gave me only my boarding pass from Baltimore to LA...WITHOUT a seat number....why? according to her, the aisle seat are all taken, i'd only get my seat assigned during boarding time....and all of my colleagues got their seat (and they are not even on aisle seats...tat's something i don understand ????? question marks all over)..that took us another 5 mins!!!
  3. my luggage is only 5 pounds over the limit...ie abt 1kg++...the check in lady wanted to charge me for USD50!!! we all went WHAT??? it's only 5 pounds!!! and we wanted to check in together so tat i could utilise their weight...she refused and said "According to the Federal Law, you are prohibited to do so" WALAO...quote me the stupid law? so i had to take my luggage and transfer things to my colleagues. that took us another 5 mins!!!
  4. Why am i going to HK, the check in lady wondered...i told her i work there, and she wanted me to prove to her...Does she want my OFFER LETTER? oh man...this is too prudent...it's none of her business why i'm going to HK right? nevertheless, i showed her my HKID just to speed things up...another 2 or 3 mins gone.
Finally, all of us were checked in, we proceed to the security point....LOOOooong Qs...and at that moment, i suddenly felt like i was back in India....sigh..US is just another version of India...ppl do things slowly and too many redundant (or i think redundant) controls....we took of our shoes (be it flip flops, high heels or sport shoes), bags, jackets etc (NO WATER, TQ) and after the whole thing, i felt so tired already...one of my colleagues got picked to do a more detailed "analysis"...he has to go through a vacuum, being wiped from head to toe, then body searching etc etc... After the painful process, i quickly called Cathay pacific to make sure my flight is ok...the conversation went like this: me: Hi, could you pls help me check if im on cx 883 or cx 881 as i have problem checking in at the counter just now. CP: yup, u are definitely on cx883. no mistake. me: Great. Thx for your help Phew, now im sure im on the same flight as my other colleagues...so we proceed to the gate...crap, flight delayed!!! so we went for dinner.... the flight from Baltimore to LA took 5 hours...i slept like a baby in the plane...at least the good thing abt not getting a seat 1st turn out to be ok...i got a nice window seat with no one seating beside me :)

Tired~~

Tired~~~tired even now when im updating my blog....i was so ENERGETIC yesterday when i arrived...arrived JFK Airport at 1.30am (our time or 1.30pm US time) yday....after going through the security, picking up luggage and going thru security again, it was already 4pm (US)....so tired...after i got to the hotel, i was like, hey, im not sleepy at all, and i explored around NYC....i stayed in Queens, and went to NYC for the night...it was AWESON!!! saw and walked onthe streets of NYC, felt the air, felt the atmosphere..hehehee....i will have a lot of pictures posted....but now, im too sleepy to update~~~ :p i'm now in Baltimore, a city close to washington DC...i slept like a baby in the plane....
took me 15 hours to get to NY from HK...luckily the lady sitting beside transferred to another seat as she wanted to sit with her friend, so i got the two seats right beside the window for myself...15 hours felt really long, but i enjoyed myself...except for the uncomfortable seat...i tried to sleep by lying down, but it was a bit small for me...ended up having painful butt and "inactive" blood vessels....i took the pic from the plane..it's supposed to be a part of NY...NY is BIG even from the plane :) i sound like a suagu..hahaha....

subway or complicated way?

Taking subway in seoul is a pain....the place seems so close and yet you have to keep changing lines....in HK, subway is pretty convenient...so i thought, it could be faster to take subway to get to my sis' place..but i was wrong~~~if i took subway, i had to change 4 times and travel for abt 2 hrs to get to my destination...so i ditched the idea and boarded on the bus instead~~~just took me 1.10hrs...long but comfy~~~
complicated mapping of subway....but i was surprised at myself for being able to commute around on my 1st night in seoul...fyi, i got down from the bus at the wrong station and waited for 15 mins for my sis at the wrong station..after a while, i just realised that i waited at the wrong station...eventhough the station is parellel to my sis' station, it took me 30 mins just to get to the destination!!! and i had to change train twice~~~walk very very far (i couldnt imagine underground station could be so HUGE~~~) impressive...
on the contrary, HK's subway is far far simpler...i heard that japan has even worse map than korea....is it to test our intelligence? ahhaha...here are the HK subway map...compare and see the difference :p

拉面记

there are so many restaurants near my sis' place...but i have no idea what they are selling coz to me, korean is like a bunch of symbols to me...we are strolling around the area, looking for food...we go into this restaurant that looks pretty korean (:p) and there are a few tables of people...hhmm..food should be good...well, i don't speak korean and my sis' korean is pretty limited, we take a look at the menu (well, not tat both of us can understand), so my sis tells the lady what she is best at "RAMEN?" the lady nodded and these dishes came...hhmm...all i could say is, the appetizer taste much better than the ramen and one ramen cost us KRW6,000~~~ Expensive.... After the bad food encounter in the morning, we went to a bread shop...wahhh...those breads look so yummy...just like those we see on tv and pics...too bad i didnt take pictures...they are all in my mind...oohh, i just feel hungry thinking of them :'p...and the street food in Seoul...one word to describe "DELICIOUS!!!"
(menu in korean...could only understand the numbers, the rest just look like symbols to me)
(Free appetizers...yum...green chilli? how to eat oh?)
Hhhmm..looks appealing to me but when i take a sip...well....
My sis gave me the black thing..i dono wat tat is and it doesnt appeal to me..i didnt eat much of the bfast~~
The next morning, we go strolling for bfast again and we find this very small looking restaurant...and this time, we pick one with pictures...so we sit down and my sis points at the pic..yup, we want korean porridge..the lady says something, i just look blank *.....* and my sis is like "pardon?" (in korean) and the lady repeats and my sis repeats..this goes on for a few times..sigghh..we are getting nowhere~~~so this an old man finally translates for us..he says:"too long..." OOoic...so my sis and i look at each other *blank* *blank* and my sis suddenly says "RAMEN? TWO" haha...i think that's the only thing my sis knows how to say :p (in fact, my sis is pretty good...she could say alot of things in korean but guess she hasn't learn how to order in korean yet)...deep inside, i am hoping that it won't be like wat we got the day before...when our ramen comes, surprisingly, they are very good...taste like maggie curry noodle~~yummy...spicy and i finish the soup too....
yummy~~~my favourite bfast
Free appetizer~~don be envious jennifer
