New Wok

i was away from hong kong for 4 weeks and just came back recently...My parents visited me at end of august and left hk two weeks after that....which means, they were gone for 2 weeks before i came back...that day, when i came home, i smelled something really bad in the kitchen...initially i thought there was a dead mouse or something so i searched up and down, left and right and i couldnt find anything?! so it had been like this for a day or two until i couldnt stand it anymore and started to use my super nose to smell...where is it? what is it??? then i saw my saucepan on the floor with the lid on...and i opened it...WALIAO EH....it was darn smelly...with 5 packs of instant noodles inside...so i i thought it must be the noodles and threw them away right away..OMG OMG, the smelled lingered on even after i threw them away...why? *Scratch my head* i thought it must be the saucepan absorbing the smell since the noodles were inside for such a long time...so i soaked the saucepan in detergent water for a few days...Even after days of soaking, it still smelled..why? i took the lid away, examined the saucepan...nothing wrong ler....so what is it??? then i looked at the lid..OMG OMG...there were "things" stucked in the holes...and the smell came from there...I took a close look...CRAP, it was rotten dried prawns inside...my mum must have used the lid upside down to soak dried prawns!!!
i boiled water, then tea with the saucepan , whatever you can think of and even soaked it with tea and tea leaves, hoping to clear the smell..i heard tea is good for many reasons....hopefully it would work....okie dokie...the lid didnt smell anymore and the saucepan seemed to have no smell now, until this morning, when i wanted to make my breakfast...i smelled the dead bodies again!!! aarrgggghhh...what the....i think the smell is permanently stucked in the saucepan now...instead of going through the trouble again, i went out today and got a brand new saucepan...tada~~~ well, i wasnt mad at mum...i was just grateful that she gave me a good reason to get new saucepan, for the previous one was already old, scratched and now...SMELLY...hahaha....meet Diamond Lady from the mall today~~

Mooncake festival

中 秋 快 樂 (happy mooncake day) my friends....time sure flies and i couldnt remember what i did last year...i think it was just a simple dinner with friends without lanterns....i remember the time i had this special day in malaysia..always full of friends and lit-lanterns...well, not here, i played it once in hk and that's it :) this year, it was a simple celebration again..just went to DMY's place for dinner...home-cooked meal!!! yay...DMY cooked udon for me..it's my favourite dish and i enjoyed it so much...this year, we had it with plum wine and char siu...guess what, we tried new flavoured mooncake this yr..cold CHOCOLATE mooncake and MANGO mooncake...they were superlicious!!! the most important is still the companionship offered by DMY ^^ met her new pet from seoul..tada~~ white rabbit...im glad DMY likes the rabbit as well and decided to get one..yay...no wonder we are good friends!!
and one more thing about mooncake festival..i was talking to my taiwanese friend and for some reason, HK has holiday the day after mooncake day and taiwan has it on the exact day...when i told my friend that our holiday is only today...my friend was puzzled...is hk having leftover mooncake? why we play lanterns on mooncake day but no 元宵节? have we been celebrating in the wrong way ever since? nah...i still like lanterns on mooncake day :)

is this ah boon?

Many of you may have known ah boon from Malaysia...she's outgoing, happy-go-lucky type of girl and very pleasant to be with....well...she promised me 5 years ago that she will visit me in HK but after 5 years, which is about 1,825 days or 43800 hours later, she is still nowhere to be seen in hk...i have no hope in her anymore...but one day, it was like a dream that i thought ah boon came to HK without letting me know and wanting to give me a surprise....there jen and i were, sitting in the MTR, spotted the back of a gal who looked so much like ah boon...we didnt dare to poke her in case the dream would break, in case it wasnt her..so we tried to make her turn around but for 30 mins, she just stood there, with her back facing us...we both started imagining how she would look like etc.....after 35 mins, she turned and walked out of the train...nah..she didnt look anything like ah boon....
In case you don't know who ah boon is and how she looks like..here's a picture of her...tada~~

And another picture in case you are still scratching your head why we thought of her when seeing the 1st picture...tada~~ the one on the right is the real ah boon~~~

生活智慧 2

my parents visited me a few weeks ago...i have to say, we all really had fun and really spent many quality days together...we celebrated my dad's birthday at an expensive restaurant which my sis paid for \(^^)/...they gave my dad many birthday peach (寿桃)...when we came out, there were puppies (狗仔队) waiting outside to shoot some movie stars....I could see and feel how happy my parents were ^^ i think they are happy because of the following reasons:
  1. seeing each other (FYI, my mum flew from perth and my dad from Kuching to HK)
  2. seeing my sis who flew from paris
  3. seeing me who live in HK
  4. less worry...i think one way for making them less worry is to let them see how well you are living and how good you are taking care of yourself....i have to say, during this trip, i felt that i have grown...taking care of my parents is the FIRST priority and they are happy to be taken care of.....
took them to a few places to play....and from this trip, i also learned many things from my parents...one of them is 生活智慧...saw how my dad protect his toothbrush...instead of using a cup holder to hold his toothbrush and preventing his toothbrush from being squashed in his bag, lookit what my dad did...very clever and traditional...hahaha...pls see below~~

mustache or nose?

was showing off my rabbits from Korea to some friends....i know kimmy likes them, i know jenn likes them and my colleagues love them..but but...when i was proudly showing the pics off to some friends in taiwan, a friend said no like the rabbit because the rabbit looks like he has mustache above his mouth...i went, huh? took a closer look and realize, oh...the nose...a patch of black thing..does really look like mustache....now my image of the cute rabbits is spoilt...nevertheless, i still love them very much ^^

AArrrggghhhh

guess what? i'm still stucked at the office at this hour...why? because it's raining hard outside and the rain wont stop and what's worse??? there are no taxi's around when it's raining...we have been calling for 2.5 hours and no taxi...NO TAXI!!! this is really ridiculous and it's time wasting..and we are tired and hungry...sigh....so finally, we just called the hotel pick up..and it's darn expensive!!! but don't care anymore...we cant sit here forever to wait for the rain to stop...this is one thing i hate abt SHANGHAI!!! AARRGGGhhhh....both my colleague and i already ordered our dinner from in-room dining..hopefully we can get it once we are back...i can eat a horse now!! > < |||
