just talking

I actually have no idea what i wanted to write...just logged into some blogs and read through and found out something...kenny's blog becomes increasingly boring...i remember when he first started, i'd log into his blog every single day..sometimes a few times in a day and i re-read some of his posts...they were so sentimental and original, after x yrs, it becomes commercialised and all i do is log in (hardly nowadays), see what topic he has, scroll up and down without reading and not even waiting for the pics to download, then close off...how sad is tat? but he still has a lot of fans..i guess everyone has different taste....i like nicolekiss' blog...she is more original and very sentimental...sometimes she could be very expressive, which i enjoy reading..and my blog? hahaha..it has become boring too...i hardly update, hardly have new topics, and im not so sentimental :p oooppss...my physic told me that my friends are gonna abandon my blog soon....hey, better than xiao hui who never updates her blog now..HELLOoooo...xiao hui, are u there? pls reply me~~~

oh, this saturday, i invited some of my friends to my humble little place for dinner..im gonna make home-cooked meal...i have been trying to decorate my place into a nice little living space for myself but at the same time, i didnt wanna spend too much...who knows where i will be in a few months time *wink*....but i enjoyed the process of trying to make it homely...during the typhoon night on Tuesday, i ran to a nearby shop to purchase my very own shelf and carried it back with me in the rain and wind...it was SOOO heavy and the salesgal didnt tie the rope tight enough around the package that my heavy parcel dropped on the ground when i ran..luckily i didnt keep anyone~~~it was nice to DIY during the night of typhoon..while the rain was splashing against my window and wind banging on the doors and windows...i love the weather...:p

magic

Like Jenn said, our trip to melbourne wasnt the type of trip that was properly planned before we went...it was just based on our mood...one moment, we felt like going skiing and agreed to wake up at 5am in the morning, and when we did the next day, someone didnt felt like going and we just went bek to sleep..well..it was just spontaneous ^^ went to yarra valley one day just to get out of the city...it turned out to be a great escape...we saw sheeps on our way...we saw grassland..acre and acre of them...mountains, blue sky with alot of clouds of different shapes...it was just like a place without problem....1 hr later, we arrived at a vineyard...chandon as jenn called it (i just cant recall the name ^^) here, hel said they served great food...yup, they did...we tested all kinds of wine and until we were dizzy, we ordered food..and lots of them....here they were:

NOW YOU SEE

NOW YOU DON'T (Reason being: they were attacked by 5 hungry ppl :p)

I made this computer table with my own bare hands...gosh, sometimes i think im a genius :p *BLUSH* see the box in front? it used to be my "chair" when i first moved in...how sad..now i got a simple chair...nothing fancy...but hopefully when im sure of my destiny, i will invest in better things...

my new apartment

moved in TWO weeks ago...i quite like this place..eventhough it is far, it's quite spacious compared to the apartments i stayed in before....the funny thing is, i stayed further and further away from the city as time passed by...when i first came, i stayed in HK island...then i moved to kowloon area and now, i live in new territorries...my new place is close to airport..which makes my "work"easier now whenever i have to make business trips...hehehe...i feel happy staying here eventhough it's far...at least when i wake up in the morning, i can see mountain...i cant believe i have this view in HK...hehehehe... another good thing is, i have a very caring security guard...who will always ask me if i have eaten, whether i will work late and whether i will come home late...aaahhh....so fatherly...hahaha..i bought him a bar of delicious chocolate from US...how nice am i? :) here's a picture of the view from my place and a video clip of my place...enjoy~~~~

GPS - never lost system

Mum learned a new word while in melbourne…she learned GPS stands for Global Positioning System…yup, a computer map…we rented a car in Melbourne and a GPS to take us around…it’s simple…all u need to do is enter the name of city and street and it will gives u direction both verbally and on system to your destination…and the motto of this GPS is “never lost”…. The ironic thing is, we are sometimes lost because of the instruction…yesterday, we spent an hour to go to my bro’s place when he only took 20 mins…and it took us 1 hr ++ to get back to our apartment while he also only took 20 mins….we were going around and around in circle….hahaha….it was a good experience…yesterday, while I drove, the instruction given was as follows: “Turn right in 100 meters and turn right. Follow the course of the road and make a U turn….” And yes, the instructor is a lady :p Sometimes, we cant just follow the instruction blindly, luckily my sisters and I used a little bit of creativity of our own….

Nightmare

I always dreaded coming to US…why? Actually the story has been shared before….let me summarise in case you have forgotten:

Blue colour fonts denote comments after the trip

  1. Long journey, long hours, body pain yup....i started to feel the pain in my knee...for sitting too long...need to stretch every now and then...mayb i shld do yoga in the plane...hiak hiak hiak...i remember ah J said i looked like a mosquito while doing yoga...*lost of confidence*
  2. Strict immigration and custom procedures….which makes everything so inefficient…that also means long wait in Qs
  3. transit time….have to make sure you have sufficient time or else u will miss ur flight..tat also means…RUSH!!!
  4. unhelpful airport personnel…remember I almost missed my flight in LA and I asked for help? The officer told me to wait in line and wait for my turn…so I took the matter into my own hand…asked everything single passenger’s permission let me cut Q and ran all the way to my terminal
  5. jet lag…I hate this..super super hate this….no sleep at night and feel sleepy during day time….and I had to keep my eyes open because all my bosses were around oh well, last night i slept like a piggie, slept at 1pm and woke up at 7pm (Western Std time)...hopefully i could still have a good night sleep tonight :p....i need to hypnotise myself into believing im in my normal timezone....
  6. bad customer service…esp in restaurants…here waiters work on tips basis and u get ur assigned waiter…other waiters in the restaurant will not give a d*mn abt u…if urs is busy, sorry dude, u just have to wait for ur turn….
  7. unclear airport signs i think i have gotten the hang of confusing signs...i actually found my way through yday....hope for more success in my return trip this Fri....
  8. took forever to check in
  9. always being treated like criminal….not feel respected at all…it’s like we are paying but we still have to beg for service….什么天理啊???
  10. missing luggage better don make the comment too early...i don wanna be jinxed :p

Anyway, I cant finish listing all the cons…so far, I haven’t found the pros yet…

This morning, when I was doing my transit in LA…everything went on so smoothly…even I myself was amazed at the efficiency level….i was the first at the immigration counter (took me 5 mins), waited at the carousel for 5 mins to collect my luggage and passed through custom in 2 mins and I walked slowly towards my terminal for domestic check in….aahh…this was the first time I felt so relaxed in US airport…but the nightmare began right there…the domestic airport was full of ppl….luckily they have a special line for business class passengers…i would be the 8th person they need to serve…I thought, well, this would be quick…but I was SOOOooo WRONG….the line got longer and longer because only TWO counters were opened…and they took 20 mins to serve each turn…don’t ask me why it took so long..coz I was trying to figure out myself…there was this guy, who was desperate already…he was in the line waiting (he actually arrived 1.5 hrs before his scheduled flight)…the line was not moving at all and his plane was abt to leave already…so he went around and around looking for help…hoping that they would open more counter…there was this airport lady who chit chatted right in front of us, and the guy asked her to help arrange for more counters coz there are a lot of ppl who are rushing for flights…guess what the lady said? She said flatly “it’s not my job” oh my oh my, I wanted to applaud for that answer…the guy was pissed, so were the rest of the ppl…so the lady continued to chit chat while tat guy went looking for help…he got the same answers from all the airport staff….and at the same time, this lady behind the counter CLOSED the counter eventhough the line was super long…leaving only one counter opened to serve more than 20+++ ppl….even economy class gets more check in counters!!! felt like doing this (NAH), but i was afraid i would be jailed....u know...here is full of surprises and anything could happen~~~ Finally, after an hr (YUP, ONE DAMN HOUR LATER), it was finally my turn…and they finally opened ONE MORE COUNTER to “speed” up….this couple next to me kept complaining about the inefficiency, bla bla bla….and they got no response…and suddenly, it reminds me of Malaysia….i did the same thing when I was in KL back in july…it was the same, there was no response from them and no sign of feeling sorry or feeling the need for improvement…so what’s common in this two countries? They are all too protected…msia, by the govt, here by the union… I’m really amazed at US….and I think they have a lot of learn from HK….tsk tsk tsk *shaking head*

LoooOOOOoong Journey

It’s now 5.09am of 2/9….and im now sitting at Dallas airport in a “san ka la” place in US….waiting for my flight to Philly….the fact that im writing now is because my flight to Philly has been delayed…oh crap..by the time I arrived Philly, it would be 10pm and by the time I reach hotel, it would be 1130pm and that also means, jenn will arrive work when she only left Melbourne 17 hrs later than me L im really really tired now…this will be my forth flight in a day..i left Melbourne at 5am on 1/9….here’s my super LOOooong journey It began like this:

  1. Melbourne to Brisbane…which took about 2 hours
  2. Brisbane to LA…which took 13 hours
  3. LA to Dallas, another 3 hours and 15 mins
  4. Dallas to Philly, another 3 hrs and 30 mins….total? 21 hours and 45 mins and this has not include my waiting time…

Let’s see, I reached Melbourne airport at 3.30am our time (that’s 1.5 hours); transit time at Brisbane, 2 hours, transit time in LA, 3 hours, transit time in Dallas is 3 hours (coz my stupid flight is DELAYED!!! #$%^&*I)..total waiting time is 7.5 hours…which means, TOTAL time I used to travel from Melbourne to Philly is 29 hours and 15 minutes!!!! This is the reason why I HATE traveling to this part of the world…well, unless it’s for vacation L I’M REALLY REALLY REALLY x 1000000000 tired right now…I’m not supposed to sleep in plane…otherwise I will have terrible jet lag…the fact is tat, I had been fighting really hard to keep my eyes open while there was nothing to do in plane (not even a show to watch in the domestic flights), so I slept…and I knew my consequence…. So what did I do in my 13 hours flight to LA? I watched the following movies:

  1. Get Smart…jenn told me it’s funny and I always wanted to watch…
  2. You don’t mess with Zohan….my bro told me it’s funny and he wanted to lend the movie to me while in Melbourne but kept forgetting...PHEW
  3. Flawless….starring demi moore but a bit boring
  4. Deception…..criminal story about auditor cum accountant
  5. sex and the city…yup, I love the movie so much tat I watch it for the second time
  6. what happened in vegas (half way through and didn’t get to finish…To be continued)

Boring ya? Sigh…I reckon it’s damn boring but that’s the only thing I could do….my conclusion is, luckily I didn’t waste money to go watch these movies in cinema…or else I would really be bored to death in plane….i’ve learned that it’s better to save a few bucks from movies, you will be surprised at how much you will gain :p (imagine if i spent money on going to cinema, i would be bored to death in the plane... :p)

NOW I DREAD FLYING BACK TO HK.....another 30 hours!!! sigh
